The components needed to set up and use digital pen and paper to capture, transfer and incorporate handwritten information from paper based forms into any existing back-end system, are included in the Formidable package. The Formidable is scalable and may well be used for smaller as well as larger installations. The solution can be placed on a network server at your site or be hosted by us.
This is how it works
The paper product used with a digital pen must include the Anoto dot pattern which is licensed from Anoto. A form may consist of one or several pages and a pen user can work with several copies of the same form in parallel.
Data can be sent from the pen via Bluetooth to a mobile phone or PC, or to a PC by docking the pen to a USB cradle. A router (software application) in the PC or mobile phone is used to transfer the data coming from the pen to the appropriate Application Service Handler (ASH) which then processes the data further. The management of routers is handled by the Configuration Server (CS).
The ASH processes the data received, and forwards it to the intelligent handwriting recognition (HWR) software which converts it into machine readable text. The result transferred from the HWR software might contain fields in need of manual verification before being exported. When the HWR software has finished, the result is exported to the back-end system for further integration.
